Historical keyboard, calendar, symbol, bitmap and color constants

Checks include definitions without treating historical numbers as universal.

Historical keyboard, calendar, symbol, bitmap and color constantsAdvPL
01 · OVERVIEW

Overview

The eAdvpl guide annex groups keyboard, calendar, symbol, bitmap and color names such as KEYBOARD_ALPHA and SELECT_DAYBYDAY. They belong to that source environment; numeric values and resources must not be transferred to arbitrary Protheus includes. Prefer symbolic names available in the implementation and check definitions before use. The example conditionally inspects KEYBOARD_ALPHA only when defined by the include, without opening a keyboard, calendar or image. (Guia de referência eAdvpl, n.d., annex 14, ref. 1)

03 · PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Commented example

#Include "Protheus.ch"
User Function Ed313()
// Do not invent a number when the constant is absent.
    #IfDef KEYBOARD_ALPHA
        ConOut(cValToChar(KEYBOARD_ALPHA))
    #Else
        ConOut("Constant absent from this include")
    #EndIf
Return Nil
Expected result

Defined value or absence message; no particular number is assumed. Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.

BEST PRACTICES
  • Record the include and version inspected. For graphics check resource availability and bitmap license; for colors check the component contract.
  • Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.
