Technical specifications

Checks version-specific limits instead of transplanting old numbers.

01 · OVERVIEW

Overview

The historical TDN table lists file, array and variable limits and recommends Windows XP. That context shows why its numbers must not be presented as universal current-build specifications. Record build, LIB, RDD, database and configuration; check specific references before sizing data. The example inspects a small array without exhausting memory to probe limits. It does not measure maximum capacity. (TOTVS, n.d., ref. 1)

03 · PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Commented example

#Include "Protheus.ch"
User Function Ed365()
    Local aSample := Array(3)
    // This sample size is not a platform limit.
    ConOut(cValToChar(Len(aSample)))
Return Nil
Expected result

Expected result 3; not a capacity test. Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.

BEST PRACTICES
  • Do not hardcode historical limits as validation for every environment.
  • Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.
