RetExtHlp

RetExtHlp() -> cExt

Reads the historical field help extension.

RetExtHlpAdvPL
01 · OVERVIEW

Overview

The manual describes a current-language extension for field help. It identifies a file convention from that product era; it does not prove a file exists, determine access rights or replace a current translation API. The historical call has no arguments. The block is not invoked because its result is environment-dependent. (Sources: refs. 1–1.)

02 · SYNTAX

Syntax

RetExtHlp() -> cExt

Return value

Character: extension in the historical reference.

03 · PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Commented example

#Include "Protheus.ch"

User Function Ed623()
    // Environment-dependent historical lookup; block not invoked.
    Local bExtension := {|| RetExtHlp()}
    ConOut(ValType(bExtension))
Return Nil
Expected result

Creates block B without assuming a language or returned extension. Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.

BEST PRACTICES
  • Verify the API in the target release. Never infer user access from an extension name.
  • Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.
