Legacy AdvPL reports and printing

Explains legacy preparation, pagination and spool lifecycle.

Legacy AdvPL reports and printingAdvPL
01 · OVERVIEW

Overview

Historical material uses SetPrint for options/output, SetDefault for setup, Cabec/Roda for pagination and OurSpool for the corresponding spool. These routines depend on report state; invoking one alone does not create a complete report. Separate data selection, presentation and output, preserve caller context and test cancellation. This example only creates a G-footer block without printer access. Old driver settings and paths require current-environment acceptance testing. (Sources: refs. 1–1.)

03 · PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

Commented example

#Include "Protheus.ch"

User Function Ed616()
    // Prepared-report subset; do not invoke in isolation.
    Local bFooter := {|| Roda(,,"G")}
    ConOut(ValType(bFooter))
Return Nil
Expected result

Only B; no document or spool generated. Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.

BEST PRACTICES
  • Unattended jobs must not depend on interactive UI/printers. Verify output, permissions and closure lifecycle.
  • Under review: editorial example neither compiled nor run in Protheus. Check includes, release, RDD and context before testing.
